Biotech firm Amgen made headlines worldwide when they acquired DeCode Genetics, an Icelandic company renowned for their research in clarifying the link between our genes and disease. This addition would allow more effective therapies to be brought to market faster.
Amgen wanted a way to communicate that this move was about more than business; it was about saving lives through strategic research.
After immersing myself in the science-dense script I realized a great way to communicate the complexity was wrap the science in situations we understand. Starting with an overview we put the reader in the clouds for a "30000 foot view" then dive through different environments that summarize each chapters. Animated infographics illustrate the more complex ideas.
From the beginning it felt bigger than a simple website. I wanted to tell Amgen’s unique story in an engaging way and started seeing the experience as a journey through our world. Voiceover, animation and video all played a part in the rich experience that was completely controlled by the user.
